Home Made Root Beer

I don’t suppose making home made root beer falls under the category of beer making, does it? Well, when I was a kid, my dad would make a whole batch of root beer about once per year. We all got together and watched as he mixed the root beer in a big metal wash tub. He had a press for capping the bottles, too. As far as I can remember, it tasted pretty good.

Homemade Wine

My family had a grape vine and built a wine cellar in the back yard and made their own wine. Once, they were fermenting wine in a Sparkletts® bottle that was stored in a closet and the bottle exploded, spilling the wine all over the place! What a mess! The lesson here is to allow for expansion!
